About Me

Hello, my name is Sue.  I am mum to 4 children aged between 25 and 12 years old.   I have been teaching Literacy and British Sign Language for over 20 years.  I have always been active in my children's education - home educating as well as being a school governor and classroom assistant. I also spent 18 years working within the Scouting movement to ensure all young people had opportunities to Scout whatever their abilities.

I have also trained in TESOL and TEFL, as well as training in other areas of Education.  I have extensive experience of working with young people with additional needs.  I firmly believe in making education fun and tailor sessions to the child's likes and dislikes wherever I can.

When I am not the Barefoot Tutor I am also a facilitator and co-director of invis-Ability CIC a Stevenage based Community Interest Company which provides educational opportunities to all ages and abilities. I hold a full DBS check.

I also write children's books.  Which are available on Amazon or via invis-Ability CIC (link above)

My mission is to foster a love of learning in your little ones, through creative lesson plans and prompts.

“When an adult is excited about learning it is contagious”
